THE CHALLENGE
This was an opportunity to assist Dr.Glenn Ruhl with his 4th-year Information Design students in the Fall 2017 semester Instructional Design course. There were three parts to this session:
to help students understand their goals for projects in the class
to facilitate an event for the students to present their projects in public
to curate a showing of the 2017 IIID Awards recipient work
THE OUTCOME
Class work included explaining to students details and examples of what their project goals could look like. Also, a presentation was made for them to understand what is involved in making a good storyboard presentation, as preparation towards the final goal of a product prototype.
In December 2017, an evening event was held at the MRU Visualization Lounge by the students. They were showing their work on projects for health care aimed at older adults, presenting to the public at at large, and to members of the Kirby Centre in downtown Calgary.
In March 2018, a show was curated on the 4th floor at MRU, showcasing the awarded projects of The International Institute for Information Design (IIID). The IIID is a global network of individuals and organisations who are interested in optimizing information for people in everyday life, business, education and science.
